Saturday will be packed with things to see and do. The Beantown Trolley Company will pick us up at our hotel at 9.00 a.m. for an exciting tour of
historic Boston with a stop at Old Ironsides Museum for a stroll on the deck of the U.S.S. Constitution. The waterfront, the Rose Kennedy garden, Beacon Hill, the State House, Back Bay and the Boston Commons are but a few of the highlights passed by our trolley. At 11:30 we will lunch at the famous Oyster House near Faneuil Hall. Then it’s off to board our cruise boat for a breath-taking tour of the harbor. A very special stop will be made on the way back to our Needham hotel to unveil the grave marker of Irish steerage passenger, Kate Buckley, whose grave in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery in West Roxbury has been unmarked all these years. A special ceremony and wreath laying will be observed at the gravesite. Return to the hotel by 5 p.m.
Saturday Evening 6:30 p.m.
Bullard’s Restaurant in our hotel will be the venue for a memorable evening’s banquet with the room decorated in nautical motif and each individual table decorated in tribute to famous liners of the Past. Our after dinner speaker is the incomparable Mr. Ocean Liner himself, Bill Miller, who will entertain and dazzle, educate and amuse us with anecdotes and photographs, history and details of the golden age of ocean travel. Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the Titanic centennial supposed to be in 2012?

The 100th anniversary of the disaster is 2012, yes. 2010-11 is the 100th anniversary celebration of the building of the ship which is the thing to be celebrating. The sinking was a tragedy which will be commemorated in 2012.
